  1. 83.15.6 - Rake

    The rake has a long wooden handle that is pushed into a cylinder of iron ajoining the rake head. The bottom of the rake is rounded, having the teeth from a semi-circle. The teeth are 5" long.

    Long wooden with a small branch side handle. The blade is attached by an iron slat hammered to the bottom of the handle on each side. The blade is attached on one side to the slat. Then a circular piece is attached by a screw to hold blade in place. The blade is 3" wide with a .5" indention in the base.

  4. 83.17 a&b - Crutch

    Wooden Crutches Crutch as a long pole with an arm rest attached. Pole and arm rest are attached by hollowing out a hole in armpiece and fitting the one end of the pole, which has been shaved/carved to fit the hole. Thus giving the arm rest the base of the pole to rest on. Side note: Date was unclear, could have been 21 or 31

    Small egg basket with hardly any buttocks of a bottom. Has a center slat that is both the handle and bottom beam of the basket. Where this piece joins there is masking tape on ends. Where the top main slat meets the handle the masking tape and silver tacks are used to hold them together.

    Small three-legged wooden stool; seat cut in octagonal shape, 2.5" thick and 11.5" diameter, legs each 12.5" long. Height - 14"

    Small hand hoe. Head is wrought iron and handle of hickory. The round handle is 4.5625 (9/16)" long and is plain wood. The head is in two pieces. A 4" piece extends down form the wooden handle in a slight curve and attaches to a flat piece - looks soldered on. The flat piece has one straight piece to which the hand attaches is 4" long.     Hand hoe. Wrought iron head with three curved edges and one straight side. Straight edge is 7.5" long. Head is 8" wide from straight edge to the other side of the iron loop which handle slips into. The loop to hold the handle is 2.25" x 2.125".     Earth Digger - no handle Wrought iron tool 6.875" long. Two prongs - 1.75" apart, each is approximately .25" wide. At the base of the two prongs is a cylinder of iron which a handle would fit into. This cylinder is 3" long, 1.625" wide. The prongs are 4" long.

    Pitch Fork Head Hand made wrought iron. Two prongs are squared off towards end and taper towards end from .25" - .125" wide and deep. The prongs curve upward for the last 4.5" and are a total of 9.%" long. The two prongs end as one piece that is flattenned out and goes from .75" at the joint to .25" at the end and the depth tapes from .375" to .125". There is a small hole at the end of the flat piece.

    Pitch Fork Head Hand made wrought iron. Two very slender, rounded prongs that taper from .375" wide & deep (at joint) to .1875" (3/16") wide & deep. The prongs have from .125" - 5.75" tapering space between them. Where they join and become piece the iron is flattened and squared off with a small hole in the end. The squared piece is tapered from .5" wide & .375" deep to .25" wide & .1875" deep.

    Pitch Fork Head Three-prong hand-made wrought iron pitchfork head. The three prongs are 13.75" long and taper from .375" wide & .5" deep to .125" wide and .09375" (3/32") deep. Where the three prongs join in a rounded curve, they become one piece which is squared and extends 2.75" from the prongs base, is from .375" -.25" and from .4375" (7/16") - .1875" (3/16") deep.

  19. 83.23.108 a&b - Buggy Steps

    Step starts out flat where it would be fastened. It is in the shape of a "T" with four square holes for securing it to the buggy. From here it comes down to a flat round section where the foot is placed. Step has a design of short straight lines around the edge with a triangle section in the middle looking a fish (?) Once painted black.

  20. 83.23.109a&b - Buggy Steps

    This step has a tripod type fastener. There are three different fasteners, each has a hole with a screw & a nut attached. The design on step is triangles cut out of the iron - here & there are four circular or tubular pieces, that makes four sections of triangles.
